A SCRAPBOOK OF
INSPIRING
PHOTOGRAPHS
  &  MEMORIES

INTRODUCTION

There were literally thousands of men and women, civilian, military and contractor technicians who helped build a "Center of Excellence."  The theme for this page and its contents is to be dedicated to "PEOPLE."  A photographic scrapbook of those who were involved throughout those many years of wonderful memories.

Beginning in 1962 many of these photographs were used primarily for identification purposes.  However, in 1965 the Base Newspaper "On Target" began a depository of new photographs of individuals at work, at play and for special occasions, awards, accomplishments, retirement ceremonies and historic events.  Photographs were taken in groups, in pairs and individually and it's highly unlikely that few if any individuals who served throughout those "Inspiring" 35 years failed to have his or her photograph taken at some time or another.

In recent years since Base Closure we have accumulated thousands of photographs from former "On Target" files as well as a reprint source available from our On Target library.  We are now able to electronically reproduce these images for your nostalgic enjoyment.  You will be able to reprint copies of the photos you select if you so desire.

A random selection of photographs will be published periodically as individual and as group categories of people at work, at play and at special events.  Also, portrait photos of individuals both civilian and military will be included although in many instances names of individuals are not available.  In such instances we ask you to help us to identify the individual and/or occasion and the period in time generally that the photo was taken. Also, and most important, if you know the present address or whereabouts of the individual(s) that can be passed on to others and eventually added to our Web-Site People Locator page will be most helpful.  Such information can be furnished by clicking on Webmaster.

As we mentioned earlier we will try to keep our scrapbook page of photos current and updated with new groups of photos added frequently.  We will be deleting some photos and adding others.  Therefore, in some instances late visitors to the site could miss an opportunity to view a photo that possibly a friend has seen and would like to have the photo displayed again.  For this purpose a group is established for selected "previously displayed photographs."

Finally if your personal scrapbook of NAFB contains photographs that you would like to share with others as a part of our Web-Site photo display, please mail to the NAFB/AGMC Web-Site, Post Office Box 35244, Sarasota, FL  34242.  Please include a self addressed, stamped envelop if the photo(s) are to be returned.

Now feel free to browse at your leisure and enjoy the many memories of people and happenings that occurred at a place called a "Center of Excellence."  You are reminded to visit the site and People Scrapbook frequently as new material becomes available.

We wish to thank you for your cooperation in making our NAFB/AGMC Web-Site the success that it has been and welcome your thoughts and suggestions as to how we can improve.
