ALVIN LEON BAILEY: (July 14, 1924 - July 22, 2001) - Mr. Bailey worked in the Directorate of Maintenance as an Inspector/Quality Assurance Specialist in the repair and testing of aircraft and missile guidance systems. He was a 20-year veteran of the US Navy, serving in WW II and in the Korean Conflict. JAY HOMER BARD: (May 7, 1911 - November 10, 2001) - Mr. Bard retired from NAFS in 1973. He was a veteran of the US Army, where he fought in the "Battle of the Bulge". JAMES H. BRUNS: (Born July 27, 1929 in Woodville, Ohio - August 28, 2001) - Mr. Bruns retired from NAFB where he worked as a Production Controller. He served in the military during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Heath Lodge 771 F&AM, Warren Chapter, and Bigelow Council 7 Royal and Select Masons of Ohio. EDGAR "STEADY EDDIE" CLOUSE: (Born July 24, 1919 in New Lexington, Ohio - September 1, 2001) - Mr. Clouse retired from NAFB in 1984, and was a former employee at Roper Corporation. He served in the US Army during WW II, receiving the Purple Heart for injuries sustained while in France. He was a member of St. Francis DeSales Church, VFW Post 1060, American Legion Post 85, and an avid golfer until the age of 81, belonging to the O.R.F. Golf League. His wife, Rhea, preceded him in death. Two sons, one daughter, two grandchildren, two brothers, and one sister survive him. DONALD P. COOK: (July 25, 1936 - November 4, 2001) - Mr. Cook was a former NAFB employee where he worked as a Security Officer and then a Machinist in the Beryllium Room (Directorate of Maintenance). He was a veteran of the US Army. JOHN V. EMBREY: (Born October 21, 1926 in Newark, Ohio - October 31, 2001) - Mr. Embrey retired from NAFB in 1989 with 25 years of service as a Production Controller. He had been employed for 11 years as a Newark Firefighter. He was a veteran in the US Army during WW II with General McArthur in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a member of the American Legion Post 85, Licking county Veterans Alliance, Past Commander VFW Post 1060 and the Order of the Cootie. He leaves his wife, Betty, one stepdaughter, two grandchildren, three sisters, and several nieces and nephews. ROBERT FOLTZ: (Deceased July 5, 2001) - Mr. Foltz worked at NAFB in the Directorate of Maintenance, his last position being the third shift superintendent. No other information available. HATTIETTA "HEIDI" FORNATRO: (Born in Butler, PA., September 12, 1928 - December 2, 2001) - Mrs. Fornatro retired from NAFB where she was employed in the Procurement Division. Her husband, John Anthony, who died in 1987 was also employed in Civil engineering Division. Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn, and two sons, John and Michael, as well as four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. PENNY LOUISE HOLBERT: (Born November 15, 1962 in Newark, Ohio - July 25, 2001) - Ms. Holbert was a former employee of NAFB. She was a 1981 graduate of Lakewood High School and the Licking County Joint Vocational School. Her son, Reid, her mother and stepfather, one brother, two sisters, and one niece survive her.

CARLE W. LANGE: (Died August 25, 2001 at Kettering Medical Center, Ohio) - He was retired from Wright-Patterson AFB after 34 years of distinguished service at NAFB, WPAFB, and RAD Kemble in Wiltshire, England. He was a veteran of the US Army. His wife, Ethel, one son, three daughters, six grandchildren, one brother survive him. DOROTHY L. LORENZ: (August 14, 1921 - November 13, 2001) - Ms. Lorenz retired from NAFB in October 1987 with 27 years of federal service. At the time of her retirement she was working in the Personnel Department. JAMES LEON TEHAN, JR.: (January 30, 1936 - October 15, 2001) - Mr. Tehan retired from NAFB in 1993 after serving 31 years of federal service. He was a supervisor in the Minuteman Systems Area, Missile Product Division, of the Directorate of Maintenance. He was also a veteran of the US Air Force. His wife, Sue Carol (Moore) and two sons survive him. DAVID "TOBY" TOBIAS: (Deceased May 30, 2001, after a long battle with cancer.) - Mr. Tobias retired from NAFB where he worked as an Inertial Instrument Mechanic in the LN Instrument and Displacement Gyro Sections of the Aircraft Product Division in the Directorate of Maintenance. THOMAS D. TRIMELONI: (Born January 7, 1928 in Central City , Pennsylvania - May 31, 2001) - Mr. Trimeloni was retired from NAFB where he worked in the Civil Engineering Division. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, American Legion Newark Post 85 and NARFE. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. His wife of 26 years, Ellen, three sons, six grandchildren, one sister, and many nieces and nephews survive him. CHARLES WILLIAM WORKMAN: (March 16, 1933 - August 23, 2001) - Mr. Workman started his employment at NAFB as a Gyro Repairman on the Titan 25 PIG in Clean Room 3 in the Missile Product Division. He also worked as a Test Equipment Repairman and at the time of his retirement he was an Electronic Engineering Technician. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Occupation Medal. Charlie was also a truck driver, farmer and outdoorsman. He was of the Baptist faith, member of the Masonic Lodge 554, NRA, and American Legion. ~ ~ ~ Special Late Notice ~ ~ ~ GERALD "JERRY"
ANDERSON: Age 64 of Canal
Winchester, Ohio died Sunday, January 6, 2002 from a heart attack while
vacationing in St. Petersburg,, Florida. He received both his
Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Ohio state University. Jerry
retired from Newark Air Force Base in 1996 and immediately went to work
for Rockwell Guidance Repair Center at the Base that later transitioned
to Boeing. He worked at Newark Air Force Base as an Engineer for
many years. In the 1980's Jerry was Division Chief of the Missile
Engineering Division (SNM)., Directorate of Inertial Engineering under
Lt. Col. James "Vic" Jeffreys. In his engineering
capacity as Missiles Division Chief he managed all major missile systems
such as Minuteman, Carousel and Peacekeeper as well as Inertial
Navigation Systems for the C-5, F-15, F-4, A-10, C-141, B-52 and T-38.
His division also played a key role in the Peacekeeper and Carousel
Depot activation and the spawning of artificial intelligence driven
diagnostics work within the then AFLC. In the 1990's until his
retirement in 1996 he became the Directorate of Maintenance Engineering
Division Chief (MAB). He currently worked for Boeing where he was
Manager of Technical Services. |
